According to the London Evening Standard, Manchester United will consider a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen should Paul Pogba leave Old Trafford during this summer’s transfer window.

Pogba’s future at Old Trafford is far from secure and it would not be a surprise if United decided to sell the Frenchman for big money ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

According to the London Evening Standard, should Pogba move on then the Red Devils could target Eriksen – out of contract at Spurs next June.

However, it seems that the majority of Tottenham fans are not overly concerned by the transfer report.

Indeed, United will not be able to offer Champions League football next season and many of the Spurs supporters feel that Eriksen would actually be making a step down if he moved to Old Trafford this summer.

Aston Villa secured a return to the Premier League courtesy of a 2-1 win over Derby County in Monday’s Championship playoff final at Wembley Stadium.

It was a terrific advert for the second tier of English football but Villa were the team smiling at full-time whilst Derby will be left wondering what might have been.

And now the speculation surrounding Jack Grealish is bound to start again.

Tottenham Hotspur were strongly linked with a move for the midfielder last summer.

Those rumours have reignited in recent weeks with a report in the Daily Star saying that Spurs could make another attempt to land the 23-year-old ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

However, the situation will have been complicated by the fact that Grealish has helped Villa secure a return to the Premier League.

Manchester United are looking to sell Romelu Lukaku and use Marcus Rashford as the club’s leading striker next season, according to the Daily Mail.

What’s the word?

After a difficult second season at Old Trafford in which Lukaku found the net just 12 times in 32 Premier League appearances, the big Belgian could be on his way to Italy with new Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte interested in the frontman.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like to bring in a new physical striker but also sees Rashford as the ideal candidate to lead the line for United next season.

The 21-year old notched ten goals and seven assists in the Premier League this season but did so while occupying a variety of positions, as opposed to solely playing in his natural striker role.

Time to shine

After scoring at a rate of just over a goal every four games, questions must be asked about Rashford’s proficiency in front of goal, but the United youth product is still a good bet for Solskjaer.

Rashford has the right combination of skill, strength and mentality to make it big at Old Trafford. Blessed with lightning speed and a terrific shot Rashford has thus far displayed all the skills necessary to become a top striker.

His winner against Tottenham in January displayed a devastating mix of speed and finishing, his free-kick against Cardiff exemplified his ability to strike the ball and his stunning effort against Brighton showed his capability to conjure something out of nothing.

In addition to the physical and technical talents of Rashford, the England international also has the mental persona to succeed as a striker for a big club. Strikers need to have thick skins and many, such as Alvaro Morata, have fallen under the intense pressure of leading a Premier League team.

With time expiring on Manchester United’s Champions League campaign, the Manchester native stepped up to emphatically strike home the winning penalty against PSG.

In the most crucial of moments, Rashford wanted the ball in his hands, something that should not be taken for granted with a 21-year old.

Thus far in his young career, Rashford has already displayed the physical, technical and mental attributes necessary to be an elite striker. United should jump at the opportunity to thrust him into the fire.

وواصل: “لو جاء عرض من الأهلي والزمالك، سأكون بعيدًا عن الأخير لأن هناك حساسية بيني وبين جماهير الأبيض وأنا خارج النادي، فماذا سيكون الوضع عندما أكون داخل القلعة البيضاء”.

وعن سبب رحيله عن الزمالك، قال: “لم أخذ فرصة كاملة، تعرضت لبعض الظلم، وهذا طبيعي في الكرة، وكنت حزينًا على طريقة رحيلي”.

وأكمل: “لا يوجد سبب واضح لرحيلي عن الزمالك، وطريقة رحيلي كانت غير جيدة (محدش قال لي شكرا)”.

وبشأن تألقه أمام الزمالك؟ أوضح: “هناك مباريات كثيرة جدًا ألعب بنفس الأسلوب، ولم يكن معي التوفيق ولا أحرز أهدافًا، ولكن التركيز كله يكون على مباريات الأهلي والزمالك”.

واسترسل: “أمام الزمالك يكون لدي بعض الغيرة بسبب الموقف الذي تعرضت له، ووربنا بيعوضني، لأنني لم أستحق ذلك”.

وعلق على مباراة طلائع الجيش أمام الزمالك في كأس مصر: “الأمر زائد عن الحد، فأنا لم أقم بإضاعة كأس العالم على نادي الزمالك، لدي مباراة أمامه ومن الطبيعي أنني أريد تحقيق المكسب، وهذا ليس له علاقة بالحب والانتماء، ألعب في طلائع الجيش والأولوية لهم”.

وعن العروض التي جاءت له في الفترة الماضية: “بالفعل جاء لي عروض، ولكن الأداء والنتائج لفريق طلائع الجيش في هذه الفترة يجعلني لا أقدر أن أتحدث في شيء”.

وأختتم: “نادم أن عرض نادي مارسيليا لم يتم، لأنه عندما أكون في هذا السن ويأتي عرض من مارسيليا الفرنسي، فهذا شيء جيد”.

Rangers look like they’ll need a Joe Worrall replacement this summer, but Steven Gerrard won’t have to worry if he captures Charlton’s Patrick Bauer.

The German centre-back is receiving interest from Blackburn and now Rangers according to the Lancashire Telegraph, and with his intimidating 6ft 2in stature, he’d certainly bring a physical presence at the very least.

Indeed, he’s said within the report to be available on a free this summer and surely that’ll please the board too.

The 26-year-old played 35 games in League One this season and it’s clear from those that he’s more than ready to make the step up. Rangers are a huge club in comparison and surely it’d be an attractive move for the player, especially with the added draw of Gerrard.

Frankly, Gerrard has to be looking for a centre-back to keep Rangers steady next season. Under his watch thus far, they’ve often crumbled on the big occasion and that’s left them with no trophy to show for what was still a year of improvement. So, despite Who Scored rating discipline as one of his weaknesses, anyone who’s seen him play will agree that his tough tackling could take them all the way.

A youngster is always likely to have more discipline issues than older players in the role he plays so, while the club certainly don’t need more any problems on that front, perhaps their valuation of his problems there can be put down to a lack of experience.

The fact he’s available for free would also likely mean they’d be able to spend their money on a striker to partner Alfredo Morelos or a long-awaited number 10, which Gerrard alluded to signing way (per the Daily Record) back in November. Clearly, we’re not privy to budgets and the like, but you’d imagine the more bargains like this would free up cash elsewhere.

Bauer showed his class in the play-off final, scoring the winner and being rated Who Scored’s star man. Though it’s early in his career, he’s proved (up until this point, anyway) he’s got the mentality to deal with pressure.

Seems like it makes sense for Rangers if they can pull a deal off.

We’re all entitled to some fun and relaxation after a stressful year at the office, right? Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard has certainly warranted a relaxing getaway after 27 appearances in the Premier League last season.

The 26-year-old forward has posted an

/BytGFEkpYaJ/” data-lasso->Instagram snap showing him enjoying his time in Miami Beach in a rather “provocative” state and it didn’t take long until the rest of the footballing world took notice.

Some of his fellow Premier League rivals were the first to jump on the pic and show their admiration for the impressive physique Lingard is demonstrating on social media. Kean Bryan, Sheffield United’s midfielder and one of the newcomers to the Premier League, posted an emoji admiring the Englishman’s shape.

There was, of course, some banter included from friends as well as admiration from teammates from United’s academy. Kenji Gorre, who spent time at Old Trafford back in his youth days, couldn’t resist from bantering a bit but also complementing Lingard while the 18-year-old academy player Dion McGhee just admired the pic.

After a season where Unai Emery didn’t quite bring a fix to the defensive struggles of Arsenal, it’s been no surprise to see the Gunners being linked with a wide range of players to fill that void.

The north London side have been linked with a big-money swoop for St Etienne’s young prospect William Saliba, but negotiations surrounding a move for the Frenchman have centred around possibly loaning him back for the upcoming season.

As such, the Daily Mail claim that Arsenal are “stepping up their interest” in Basel centre-back Eray Comert and that talks are being planned with his agents in Switzerland.

The report saw Gunners fans take to Twitter to reveal their thoughts on their latest transfer target and many were left rather underwhelmed by the prospect of Comert’s arrival.

Some pointed out that Arsenal’s two previous imports from the club, Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka, who came through the Swiss side’s academy, had hardly set the world alight at the Emirates.

Indeed, a few supporters of the north London side felt the club were going for the “cheap” option and were simply wasting money on those kinds of signings.

After a disastrous end to the season, Arsenal’s attention can now be turned to how to improve the squad ahead of August.

Fans will be demanding big moves this summer as Unai Emery has the tasking of recruiting new players on a shoestring budget of just £40 million, with defenders and wingers likely to be the most likely areas that will be improved upon this summer, as well as a midfielder.

With such little money to work with, Arsenal will need to play the market smartly, and if reports are to be believed, the club are doing just that with Il Mattino reporting via Sport Witness that the Gunners are interested in Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara, who could be available this summer for just £17.5 million.

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder is one of the best players in his position for his age group, being a regular feature in the Napoli squad for the good part of three seasons, and if the Gunners are able to sign the Guinean international it could be one of the bargains of the summer.

Valued at £14.4 million on Transfermarkt, Diawara has a respectable amount of experience in a top league for someone at his age, and although Arsenal fans are currently excited about youth prospect Joe Willock, the Napoli midfielder will top the hype Gunners supporters have for their starlet.

Diawara could man the Arsenal midfield alongside Lucas Torreira for years to come, and with a price tag that fits well into what the club can afford this summer, Emery will be mad not to go in for the Napoli man this transfer window.

Could Philippe Coutinho make a spectacular return to Liverpool this summer? It seems unlikely.

However, recent reports suggest it could actually be on the cards. Le10 Sport claimed towards the back end of last month that the Reds were pondering a possible return for the creative star, which was then relaid by The Express on Sunday.

With that in mind, the question was posed to Liverpool fans on Twitter of whether they’d take him back at Anfield.

Some responses, rather surprisingly, were in favour of what would be a controversial return for the 27-year-old.

One supporter said that bringing him back would be a no-brainer whilst another said he couldn’t argue with Jurgen Klopp if he decided to make a move for the Brazilian.

A further supporter commented that Coutinho should be brought back because he knows the club’s philosophy, suggesting he was exactly what Liverpool needed.

The Barcelona man left under a cloud of smoke back in January 2018, paying £9m of his own money to force through a move to the Catalan club.

Consequently, he hasn’t been held in the highest of regards since.
