Tottenham fans react as Olivier Giroud is linked with potential switch

The agent of Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud is attempting to take his client to Tottenham Hotspur before the January transfer window closes for business, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

There has been no mention of any actual interest from Spurs, although Bailey has claimed that Giroud’s agent is attempting to “engineer a move” to Jose Mourinho’s side in the lead-up to Friday night’s deadline.

And a number of Tottenham fans have been on social media offering their views on the 6 foot 4 ace.

Some of the supporters are open to the idea of the 33-year-old joining the club.

However, it would also be fair to say that a number of Tottenham fans are simply not interested in the 2018 World Cup winner potentially arriving at the club.

Giroud might have only made five Premier League appearances for Chelsea this season but his overall record in England’s top flight is 78 goals in 225 outings, which is far from disastrous.

The fact that Harry Kane is on the sidelines until at least April following hamstring surgery means that Spurs are short in attack, and it would not be a surprise to see them move for a new striker before Friday’s deadline.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are still in talks over a double deal late in the transfer window, according to an Italian journalist.

West Ham fans swoon over Xande Silva after his returning goal

West Ham United’s first-team may have disappointed once again, throwing away a 3-1 lead to draw against Brighton & Hove Albion, but the U23s have provided more reason for optimism.

Xande Silva was on the young Hammers’ bench, coming off it to score in an impressive turnaround, that saw them beat Sunderland 4-2.

The fact that the 22-year-old was able to get himself on the scoresheet was a source of pride and excitement for many Hammers fans.

The Portuguese forward suffered from a bowel obstruction during the summer, which saw him hospitalised.

It has been a long process for him to get ready for action, with this being his first competitive game back for the U23s.

Call yourself a West Ham expert? How much did each of these January signings cost?

Therefore fans were over the moon to see him mark the occasion with a goal that helped secure a win for the youngsters.

This has also led to the suggestion that David Moyes should reinstate him into the first-team setup now that he is back.

One fan said he “scores for fun in the U23s”, which is backed up by last season’s numbers, when he scored seven goals in eight Premier League 2 games, adding an assist.

The 22-year-old has made two first-team appearances to date, and if Hammers fans get their wish, he will be adding to that soon.

Meanwhile, Roshane Thomas absolutely slated one West Ham player after the Brighton draw.

Liverpool: Trent Alexander-Arnold names his toughest opponent

It was a big day for Trent Alexander-Arnold on Monday – the 21-year-old reached one million followers on Twitter.Clearly, being a talented footballer can get your quite far in terms of your social media standing, and the England international fits the bill. He has been the Reds’ creative force over the last 18 months – no-one has as many as his 28 assists in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side during that time.

Can you name the result these iconic Liverpool images belong to? Give it a go now…

To mark the occasion, Liverpool’s number 66 gave an impromptu Q&A session on his Twitter page, with his followers asking a variety of questions, such as whether he likes pineapple on his pizza or who his footballing idol is.

One fan asked him who his toughest opponent has been, and his answer was pretty emphatic: Lionel Messi.

You can’t blame him. Alexander-Arnold has only played against the Argentina international twice, and although the Reds won 4-0 against Barcelona in the latest of those two clashes, that came after the 32-year-old had given them the runaround the first time. In the Champions League semi-final first leg, he bagged twice in a 3-0, which included one stunning free-kick.

West Brom fans have mixed views on Hal Robson-Kanu

On Tuesday afternoon, West Bromwich Albion’s official Twitter account paid tribute to Hal Robson-Kanu for putting in ‘some tremendous shifts’ in recent weeks.

The 30-year-old has a record of nine goals in 28 appearances for the Baggies this season, with seven of those strikes coming in 27 Championship outings.

The Wales international has not scored in any of his last six league appearances, though, whilst he has just one in his last 13 in England’s second tier.

According to WhoScored, Robson-Kanu boasted five successful dribbles and an 85% pass success rate against Nottingham Forest last time out, though.

And a number of the West Brom fans agreed with their club’s tweet.

Not all of the supporters feel the same way, though, with some referencing the fact that the attacker, who arrived at the club from Reading in 2016, has struggled to find the back of the net in recent weeks.

West Brom are currently top of the Championship table, four points clear of second-placed Leeds United, ahead of their trip to Bristol City on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, a number of the club’s supporters were delighted with the performance of one individual in particular against Forest.

The 23-year-old has played 28 times for Rangers in all competitions so far this season, but after this latest showing, his place in the starting lineup must be at serious risk.

It appears as if supporters would like him nowhere near the squad going forward…

Some wanted him out of the starting XI whilst others wanted him gone completely – one fan went as far as saying that the only place for him at the moment was the reserves.

He was also described as “awful.”

A couple of further members of the Gers faithful were rueing the absence of crocked Swede Filip Helander with no time set on his return following a “rare injury.”

Liverpool: Fans disagree with Paul Ince after question Virgil van Dijk’s loyalty

Liverpool fans have been disagreeing with the views of former Reds’ midfielder Paul Joyce after claiming that Virgil van Dijk could consider leaving if Barcelona or Real Madrid came calling.

The Reds are racing away with the Premier League as they currently possess a 19-point lead over Manchester City after they won the Champions League last season. Despite their domestic dominance during the current campaign, Ince warned that they could face a situation similar to the one with Philippe Coutinho.

He told the Liverpool Echo that the Merseyside club could be a victim of their own success and feels that the big clubs will be sniffing around the Dutch talisman for his services, adding that it would be tough for Van Dijk to turn such an opportunity down. Unsurprisingly, the Kop faithful were not impressed with Ince’s views and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan described him as the “green-eyed monster of jealousy”, while another said that he was “living in 2010”.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho must unleash Oliver Skipp

Amidst all the disappointment surrounding Tottenham’s shock FA Cup fifth round exit to Norwich on Wednesday night, one thing that may have disappeared under the wreckage, was Oliver Skipp’s performance.

The Spurs academy product was given a rare chance to impress by Jose Mourinho, with the 19-year-old previously having only played six games across all competitions this season.

And whilst the rest of his teammates flattered to deceive, Skipp was arguably one of the only bright sparks to come out of that match with any credit.

As per Sofascore, he had an impressive 90% pass accuracy, had a 100% dribble success rate, made three tackles, and won five of his nine duels – and in possession, he only conceded the ball seven times over the course of the 120 minutes that he was on the pitch. To put that last statistic into perspective, Erik Lamela, who only played 50 minutes, lost possession on three more occasions.

His 7.0 match rating bettered than that of fellow academy product, and midfield partner, Harry Winks. At 19, Skipp has got plenty of time to grow and mature, but he is certainly someone who Mourinho should surely now look to unleash over these coming weeks and months.

Tanguy Ndombele was no doubt seen as the big hope of Spurs’ central midfield, considering his big price tag following his move from Lyon last summer. But his terrible record with injuries has hampered his progress big time, and when he will be ready to play a full game remains to be seen.

On the other hand, Skipp, despite not playing much football this season, played the full 90 plus extra-time on Wednesday, and still showed signs of energy towards the latter stages. It was no wonder that speaking in his post-match press conference, Mourinho drooled over the Spurs starlet’s display.

“Phenomenal. Very, very good. Very, very good, solid performance. Even with the yellow card I kept him for two hours, first of all because Winks was in trouble, secondly because he was so solid, so mature, so confident that I was never afraid of a second yellow card coming. He was always in control of the game. We could see the difference also on the physical condition of him and the people who us playing all the time.”

Quite the praise. It’s now up to Mourinho to prove that these aren’t empty words, and that he will reward Skipp with some more first-team opportunities very soon.

Meanwhile, Tottenham fans have slammed this ace after his shocker against Norwich.

Liverpool fans react to more Michael Edwards genius

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was revealed by Italian outlet Il Messaggero that Lazio playmaker Luis Alberto has a 30% sell-on clause in his contract, which was believed to be negotiated by transfer guru Michael Edwards.

Il Messaggero state that Alberto – who left Liverpool in the summer of 2016 for £4.3m – will have a release clause of £87m implemented into his contract at Lazio if he puts pen to paper on a new deal, which would entitle the European champions to £26.1m if someone meets that clause in the future.

Of course, much of this is hypothetical and it would take a monumentally impressive campaign from the Spaniard for anybody to meet such a lofty figure – he is, however, showing great form at the moment with five goals and 14 assists in all competitions for the Italian side, so who knows.

So, if somebody does pay Alberto’s release clause, Liverpool could be set for a huge cash injection thanks to Edwards – despite selling the Spain international for peanuts almost four years ago.

Let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about the club’s Sporting Director after discovering the news…

To kick off the reaction, these three supporters all showered Edwards in praise after finding out Alberto’s sell-on clause.

One said that FSG – the club’s owners – certainly know how to hire. Just by seeing how well Jurgen Klopp has done at Anfield, transforming Liverpool from a mid-table side into European champions, it’s hard to disagree with that statement.

Elsewhere, another supporter called on Liverpool to build a statue of Edwards!

Another said “well played yet again” in the direction of the Sporting Director.

Spurs fans react to Willian contract claim

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been sent into a mass debate this week after Duncan Castles of the Transfer Window Podcast made a monumental claim in their pursuit of Chelsea winger Willian.

He believes that Spurs have offered the 31-year-old a contract he is willing to accept, and manager Jose Mourinho wants him to be part of his squad next season.

The Brazilian doesn’t have the best relationship with members of the north London fanbase as he once had a medical at the club before opting for their Stamford Bridge rivals instead some seven years ago.

So understandably, supporters have been quite split on whether or not the club should sign him this summer.

Castles’ news was blasted as “shambolic” on social media while many really didn’t want to see him at Spurs…

There’s clearly no love lost between the two parties here, which probably isn’t a surprise considering that reject move. Since then, he’s hugely profited against the Lilywhites.

From 19 matches in all competitions, Willian has won 11 times, scoring four goals and assisting two more, per Transfermarkt.

The veteran attacking midfielder has been quite the reliable option for Frank Lampard this term, even despite his advancing years and players like Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi knocking on the door.

Willian has contributed seven goals and six assists in 37 appearances, which is above what Lucas Moura has managed for Spurs so far.

Some supporters see him as an upgrade to his fellow countryman.

Even Erik Lamela was mentioned, who has been far too injury-prone in recent years – he’s only averaged 51 minutes per game this campaign, a massive 17 minutes less than Willian despite the 31-year-old being a lot older.

Some others merely believed he’s a good player who Spurs could do with, too…

Only time will tell if the Blues ace will make the controversial switch across the London border, but clearly either way, it’s going to divide opinion.

Aston Villa fans react to Anwar El Ghazi’s comment

Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi has offered an indication of what life is like for a Premier League footballer during the current suspension.

Watch Aston Villa Videos With StreamFootball.tv Below

He was speaking to Dutch outlet Sport Tekort, with one clip being translated by villareport, which includes him admitting he has “no life without football”.

This revelation has got plenty of Villa fans talking about him and the lack of football that is currently on offer.

A lot of the fans replying to the tweet are agreeing with him, saying the lack of football is leaving a massive void in their lives at the moment.

This goes to show just how intrinsic football is to those who are passionate about the sport, with Villa being something that plenty of their supporters are missing.

Did he really play for us?! No Villa fan has managed to name all of these obscure Villans….

There was also mention of the mental impact that the current pandemic is having, and it is important that this side of things is battled, as well as the health concerns.

However, there are some fans who weren’t quite so impressed by the latter comment, in which he referenced “preparing for the next fight”.

The 24-year-old has started 26 games and comes off the bench four times across all competitions this term, scoring six goals and assisting another four, having scored in the play-off final last season.

In addition to that, he averages 1.1 key passes and 1 dribble per game, though this has not been enough to impress some supporters, who feel he should be doing more to get Villa out of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Mark Bosnich has discussed Villa’s goalkeeping situation.
