Andre Onana SNUBBED! Man Utd goalkeeper left out of Cameroon's AFCON squad in shock blow

Goalkeeper Andre Onana has suffered another crushing blow after being left out of Cameroon’s squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. The 29-year-old has endured a torrid 2025-26 season, having lost his position as Manchester United’s No. 1 before being allowed to move to Turkish side Trabzonspor on a season-long loan in September.

Onana not included despite Cameroon selecting four 'keepers

Eyebrows were raised on Monday when Cameroon released their 28-man squad for AFCON, which gets under way on Sunday, 21 December when tournament hosts Morocco take on Comoros. Despite selecting four goalkeepers, Onana was a shock absentee from The Indomitable Lions’ roster.

Two players who have been included in the squad are United forward Bryan Mbeumo and Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba, who was strongly linked with a big-money move to Old Trafford in the summer. Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou – who now plays for Saudi Arabian outfit Diriyah Club – has also been selected by his country.

AFPFive-time AFCON winners also sacked manager on same day

Capping off a chaotic 24 hours, The Cameroon Football Federation – led by former Barcelona, Chelsea and Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o – sacked manager Marc Brys on the same day the squad was announced.

The five-time AFCON winners, who have named David Pagou as Brys’ successor, face Gabon in their opening fixture in just three weeks’ time (24 December). Cameroon also take on Ivory Coast (28 December) and Mozambique (31 December) in the group stage.

Cameroon snub the latest blow in torrid 2025-26 season for Onana

Having been expected to be named in Cameroon’s squad, the snub represents the latest blow in what has been a dreadful season for Onana. Losing his place in the United XI to Altay Bayindir for the first three Premier League games of the season following a hamstring injury sustained in pre-season, the former Inter shot-stopper made two mistakes as the club were beaten 12-11 on penalties by League Two minnows Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup on 27 August.

Onana, who has earned 53 caps for Cameroon, was then allowed to leave United for Super Lig side Trabzonspor in early September, following the arrival of Senne Lammens from Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp. The 23-year-old has been a revelation since moving to the Red Devils, firmly establishing himself as the club’s new No. 1 ahead of Bayindir.

Women's League Cup draw descends into chaos as 'furious' clubs demand answers over calamitous TikTok gaffes

Women's Super League clubs have reportedly been left furious by a chaotic draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Women's League Cup. The draw was made by GK Barry and has caused controversy after a ball was taken out of bag and then put back in, while the social media influencer also made crude sexual references while the draw was being made.

  • Women's League Cup draw revealed

The draw took place on Tuesday night and saw Chelsea paired with Liverpool and WSL table-toppers Manchester City up against West Ham. The other two ties will see Arsenal go to Crystal Palace and Manchester United take on Tottenham. The draw for the semi-finals of the tournament was also made, with the winners of the tie between West Ham and Man City to host either Liverpool or Chelsea. The other semi will feature the winners of the quarter-final between Crystal Palace vs Arsenal hosting either Man Utd or Spurs. The quarter-finals are due to be played between 19-21 December and the semis between 21-22 January 2026.

  • Club left furious by chaotic draw

Although there are some eye-catching ties to look forward to in the next round of the competition, there has been plenty of anger about the way the draw was conducted. Clubs are said to have been left "furious" by Barry's behaviour as she conducted the draw live on WSL Football's TikTok page along with her partner, Portsmouth midfielder Ella Rutherford, per . At one point, Barry pulled a ball out of the bag, dropped it back in by accident, and then took it out again, saying: "Am I allowed to do that? I've done it now, it's too late. Oh I picked up the same ball." Barry also made a comments about "lesbians handling balls", and the chaotic nature of the live broadcast has led to concerns being raised over the "professionalism and legitimacy" of the draw, as reported by .

  • Tottenham receive apology after crude comments

Barry made a number of lewd comments throughout the draw and also said "What do we think about Tottenham?" at one point in reference to an anti-Spurs chant that has been sung by fans of rivals Arsenal. A representative from WSL Football has since been in touch with Tottenham to offer an apology and discuss their concerns, according to .

    Changes ahead after chaotic draw

The decision to perform the draw live on TikTok was reportedly made in a bid to appeal to a move diverse and younger audience. However, the chaotic nature of the event has ended up creating controversy and raising concerns, meaning changes are likely to be made in the future. According to , "learnings from the draw will be introduced in the future" in a bid to avoid similar issues arising. This is the second problem in a week to hit women's football. Monday's FA Cup third-round draw, which took place from Oxford United, also hit a major issue as the YouTube stream was broadcast without sound because of technical problems, meaning presenters and interviewees could not be heard.

There may also be changes coming to the League Cup for the 2026-27 season as part of a "radical revamp" that is being planned but must still be approved by the Football Association, according to . Clubs competing in the Champions League would be excluded, in a bid to manage player loan and welfare, while the format would also be changed. Women's Super League Football has proposed abandoning the current group stage and implementing a Swiss model, similar to the one currently used in the Champions League.

Navgire smashes fastest T20 hundred in women's cricket

Kiran Navgire, the India and Maharashtra opener, has smashed the record for fastest hundred in women’s T20s. She hit her record-breaking blitz in the Women’s T20 Trophy on Friday, hammering a 34-ball century while finishing on a 35-ball 106. It helped Maharashtra crush Punjab with eight overs to spare in Nagpur.Navgire broke Sophie Devine’s record for the previous fastest women’s T20 century, in 36 balls. That came in Wellington’s ten-wicket win over Otago in January 2021 where Devine scored 108 not out in 38 balls. An incredible strike-rate of 302.86 makes Navgire’s performance the only women’s T20 century to have a 300-plus strike-rate.It was all one-way action from Navgire’s bat. In the unbeaten 103-run second-wicket partnership, No. 3 Mukta Magre needed to contribute only six runs as Navgire plundered 14 fours and seven sixes. Maharashtra’s team total of 113 for 1 – the chase completed in eight overs – is now the lowest total to include an individual hundred in women’s T20s, going above the previous lowest of 123 in a CSA T20 game where Annerie Dercksen scored 106 not out.

Navgire, from Mire in Maharashtra’s Solapur district – nearly 200km south-east of Pune – first turned heads during the 2022 edition of the Women’s T20 Trophy, when she smashed 35 sixes for Nagaland. She also became the first Indian to hit a 150-plus score in a women’s T20 match during her 76-ball 162 against Arunachal Pradesh. In an interview to ESPNcricinfo, she said she wanted to bat like MS Dhoni and credited much of her strength from helping out on her family’s farm as a child and from the variety of sports she played growing up.Her big-hitting exploits earned her an India T20I debut in Chester Le-Street against England in 2022, but she has not found a place in the national side since the Women’s Asia Cup of October 2022. In her six outings for India, she has batted four times, cumulatively scoring 17 runs across 19 balls, with one not out.In the WPL, she has been a regular at UP Warriorz, scoring 419 runs in 24 innings across three seasons. Her WPL strike-rate is 140.13, but she has averaged less than 18.

Yankees Clearly Irked After Being Presented AL Championship Rings

The presentation of American and National League championship memorabilia is steeped in history—both leagues predate the World Series, after all. However, it can be a bit awkward for the Fall Classic's losing team.

Take, for instance, the New York Yankees, who won a dramatic five-game ALCS against the Cleveland Guardians last October—only to fall flat in an equally action-packed five-game World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

On Thursday morning, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com published a story documenting the Yankees' mixed reactions to their AL championship rings—the 41st such honor in team history.

"This isn’t the one we wanted, boys," designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton said to his teammates. "The one that we want is in front of us. I’d better not see any of you guys wearing these around."

“You think of the celebrations, the guys on the team that aren’t here anymore. But at the end of the day, I just put it away. I don’t need to see it again," shortstop Anthony Volpe said.

“It was cool. It would be cooler if it was a World Series ring,” pitcher Tim Hill said.

Less diplomatic were pitchers Clarke Schmidt and Carlos Rodon, who dismissed the keepsake as "a participation trophy" and "first loser," respectively.

New York has the second-best record in the AL at the moment, so adding another league championship ring doesn't seem out of the question. The question is whether it can take the big prize beyond that.

'Look At That! Come On!': White Sox Announcer Incensed Over Benches-Clearing Rundown

Baltimore Orioles designated hitter Coby Mayo hit for an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning Saturday, but as soon as he found himself safe on base, he was vulnerable again. The hit to the outfield was thrown in as Mayo was attempting to bag a second base, and he was caught in a rundown before he could reach second safely.

Mayo collided with Chicago White Sox infielder Lenyn Sosa, but appeared to try to sell a fielder's interference… or something… by pushing himself into Sosa on the infield grass. Sosa was exasperated, motioning to the umpire that he wasn't at fault with his shoulders shrugged. Sosa then attempted to confront Mayo over the shove after the batter picked himself up off the ground, and Mayo shoved him as he walked back to his own dugout.

Dugouts would come to him, though, with both teams coming into the field to talk things over after the shoves. No further physical expressions would be exchanged, but plenty of words were had.

As he watched the initial shove, White Sox color commentator Dan Plesac was not pleased with what he saw go down.

"Look at that. Mayo the first one to leave the pile. Isn't it funny how that starts? The guy who starts things off is the first one to leave the field. Make an exit, Mr. Mayo. Make an exit," Plesac of Chicago Sports Network said, incensed over the entire situation.

"Look at that! Come on," Plesac said when he saw the base-running blunder in slow motion replay.

It's not the first time the Orioles have been involved in a benches-clearing incident that was really a whole lot of nothing.

Not Mainoo: Amorim’s use of Man Utd’s “best player” is a sackable offence

Manchester United’s squad at present is full of top-level talent in numerous areas of the pitch, but Ruben Amorim has so far struggled to make use of the players at his disposal.

The hierarchy have constantly splashed the cash in recent years, with over £200m being spent on new attacking talents during the recent summer transfer window.

The likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha all made the move to Old Trafford, but they have only posted a total of eight Premier League goals combined in 2025/26.

Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system has seen Mbeumo operate in a somewhat unnatural central attacking midfield role, no doubt taking away his best asset – cutting inside off the right-hand side – away from him.

As a result, one player has indirectly suffered this campaign, with the manager recently coming under fire for his lack of faith shown in the player over recent months.

The latest on Kobbie Mainoo’s Man Utd future

Just a couple of years ago, Kobbie Mainoo was a key member of the United first-team squad, with the midfielder often starting at the heart of Erik ten Hag’s side.

He emerged out of the club’s academy setup, often popping up with key moments, as seen by his incredible achievements during the 2023/24 campaign.

The 20-year-old scored a late winner in the clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, whilst also netting in the FA Cup final against Manchester City – resulting in a place in the England squad for Euro 2024.

However, his career has taken a nosedive over the last 12 months, with Amorim evidently not seeing the academy graduate as part of his long-term plans at Old Trafford.

Mainoo has featured in nine league matches to date, none of which have come from a starting role, leading to one journalist questioning the manager over the midfielder after yesterday’s draw.

The 40-year-old simply laughed when asked about bringing the youngster on to try and win the game at the Theatre of Dreams, which sums up the faith he currently has in him at present.

However, an escape route could well be on the cards for Mainoo ahead of the January transfer window, with Napoli constantly tracking the Englishman over a potential transfer.

The Man Utd player that Amorim is misusing in 2025/26

The reluctance to utilise Mainoo in 2025/26 is just one of Amorim’s biggest failures to date, with the youngster massively deserving the chance to thrive under his guidance.

However, his recent spell on the substitutes bench highlights the lack of faith shown in him by the manager, with a solution desperately needed in the coming months.

The same could also be said about numerous other players, as seen by the struggles endured within the final third of the pitch over the last couple of matches in the Premier League.

Mbeumo has now failed to find the back of the net in each of his last three outings, but the forward is set to go to AFCON throughout January, which could leave a huge hole in the Red Devils’ attack.

His month-long spell away from Manchester could open up the door for Bruno Fernandes to once again feature in the number ten position – a role that is no doubt his best.

The Portuguese international operated in an attacking midfield role during 2024/25, resulting in the 31-year-old registering 37 combined goals and assists across all competitions.

However, the £200m spending spree in attacking areas has resulted in the United captain dropping into a deep-lying number eight position, which has taken away his creative nature in recent months.

He still currently has a total of five assists in his 14 appearances this campaign, but there’s little denying he’s endured a drop-off from his form last season.

Bruno, who’s been dubbed United’s “best player post Fergie” by writer Kaustubh Pandey, has now had to contribute more defensively, as seen by his increased tally of tackles won per 90 compared to last season.

However, whilst he’s still managed to play a part in winning the ball back for his side, it’s come with an adverse effect – subsequently resulting in a lack of creativity in attacking areas.

He’s only scored twice in the Premier League to date, one of which was a penalty, highlighting his lack of impact in terms of goal contributions in 2025/26.

It’s clear to everyone but Amorim that the Portuguese star is better in an attacking role, which means one of the £200m additions may need to be sacrificed.

Such a move could open up a free role at the heart of the Red Devils side, which could allow Mainoo to have the run of games he needs to save his United career

However, if Amorim is unable to make such changes in the near future, it could result in the 40-year-old losing his job at Old Trafford in the near future – with such a decision an easy one for him to make.

Sell him before Gakpo & Konate: Slot must bin Liverpool’s “Origi regen”

When defending a Premier League title, it is important to ensure you make signings of outstanding quality.

Liverpool did that, didn’t they? A record-breaking summer spending spree consolidated FSG’s new era, with Arne Slot at the helm. The league title was in the bank, and players like Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike arrived with a weight of expectation, regarded as elite talents.

Isak, in particular, was a banker, having been hailed by Sky Sports’ Jamie Carragher as “the best striker in the Premier League right now” as Newcastle United rode the crest of a wave through last season’s winter period.

But, having forced his way out of St. James’ Park this summer, missing out on pre-season, the Sweden striker has found himself on a sticky wicket, lacking sharpness and coherence. Across 752 minutes of action this season, Isak has scored just two goals.

Better days will surely come for this world-class player. And it’s not like he’s alone in flattering to deceive, with Ibrahima Konate and Cody Gakpo among those to have put their jobs at risk with such poor performances.

The Liverpool players whose jobs are at risk

First, let’s address the elephant in the room: Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian’s incendiary interview after the recent Premier League draw at Elland Road has cast his Reds future into jeopardy, the 33-year-old having been left out of three successive starting line-ups before being dropped ahead of the win over Inter.

Salah has been poor this season, ineffective in front of goal and lacking work-rate in regard to pressing and defending. The intensity hasn’t been there, but Salah’s struggles have been a part of a wider malaise.

When he aired his frustrations, the Egypt superstar might have been referencing someone like Gakpo, who has reprised his starting berth regularly this term despite struggling for fluency and dynamism down the left flank. Liverpool need a more protean threat, for sure.

Konate may have been the worst of the bunch. Certainly, the France centre-back has been riddled with mistakes, lacking any semblance of the powerhouse of last season. He is out of contract at the end of the season, but FSG plan to renew his deal.

These are players who have not done their reputations justice this season, and many of a Liverpool persuasion would press for upgrades after such a wretched campaign.

However, there’s another man who has been in finer fettle than the lot, and yet he may need to be sold too, given Slot’s reluctance to hand him minutes.

FSG could sell Liverpool's "Origi regen"

Last season, Federico Chiesa flattered to deceive at Liverpool. The Italy international arrived in August 2024 as the sole summer signing of Slot’s first transfer window, a cut-price buy of just £12.5m as he entered the final year of his contract with Juventus.

Chiesa had to wait until the title was wrapped up before he earned a starting berth in the Premier League, and while Slot has yet to hand the 27-year-old an appearance from the outset in the Premier League and Champions League this season, Chiesa has redeemed himself with some impressive performances.

An intense and direct forward, the Italian scored the late winner against Bournemouth in August, sealing three points on the first game of the Premier League season. He bagged again against Crystal Palace in September, a consolation in defeat, while assisting twice against Southampton in the Carabao Cup.

This kind of potency has even seen the versatile forward hailed as a “Divock Origi regen” by reporter Lewis Oldham for his clutch quality in the final third, popping up when teammates around him were foundering.

The problem: Slot clearly doesn’t favour Chiesa as a prominent member of the squad. And we have to believe that Liverpool will turn a corner sooner rather than later, challenging again for silverware, rather than scraping the gutter for points.

Would Chiesa fit into grand plans of greater ambition? Could the plain truth be that we saw how that transpired last year?

Given that he earns £150k per week, more than most of his teammates, FSG may feel that they are not getting bang for their buck, and that they need to invest in a wide forward better aligned with Slot’s vision.

For this reason, it might be worth cashing in while Liverpool can still recoup something of their shrewd, low-risk investment.

West Ham lodge potential new bid for Brazilian who they nearly signed in 2024

West Ham could now be back in for a former transfer target who they were on the verge of signing for Julen Lopetegui in 2024, according to a new report.

West Ham poised for active January transfer window

According to recent reports, the Hammers are poised for an active January transfer window amid their battle against relegation, and could sign a defender, midfielder and striker for Nuno Espírito Santo.

Reliable club insiders like ExWHUemployee have backed this up as we fast approach the turn of the year, while former West Ham scout Mick Brown has claimed that Nuno is planning a major overhaul.

West Ham have undergone a mini revival under Nuno recently, losing just one of their last six Premier League games, but it is clear they need strength in depth across the pitch.

Niclas Füllkrug is set to leave the London Stadium in January following his lacklustre stint in England, so West Ham are believed to be looking at strikers to replace him.

Man United 1-1 West Ham

Brighton 1-1 West Ham

In terms of the midfield area, James Ward-Prowse, Guido Rodriguez and Lucas Paqueta have all been linked with mid-season exits, so the prospect of a new name in the engine room hasn’t been ruled out either.

Meanwhile, Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell is back on the club’s radar after coming close to joining in the summer, with the Irons planning to ‘reignite’ talks for his signature (ExWHUemployee).

Sticking at centre-back, West Ham could now be back in the hunt for a familiar name — Cruzeiro centre-back Fabricio Bruno.

The 29-year-old made 51 appearances in all competitions for Cruzeiro in the recently-concluded 2025 Brazilian campaign, and his recent form has even earned him a recall to Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad.

Bruno featured in all of Brazil’s last three friendlies against Japan, Senegal and Tunisia, with the towering defender well in contention to be selected for next year’s World Cup.

Belief West Ham have rebid for Fabricio Bruno after near-2024 move

The former Flamengo stalwart was actually on the verge of joining West Ham in 2024.

Fabrizio Romano even gave his famous ‘here we go’ to the transfer and claimed he would be Lopetegui’s first defensive signing, but the transfer ended up collapsing.

Now, as per South American journalist Jorge Nicola, there is every reason to believe West Ham may have rebid for Bruno.

According to his information, a mystery English club has submitted a £13 million offer for the player, and Nicola theorises that the most likely candidate is Nuno’s side given their very advanced talks nearly two years ago.

Bruno’s move to West Ham apparently didn’t happen because of the player’s salary demands, but the Premier League door may now be back open following what has been a stellar 2025 for him.

Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender David Luiz, who was on the books with Bruno at Flamengo, once said he has the ‘quality to play for any team in the world’.

However, given Cruzeiro only signed him in early 2025, they may be reluctant to part ways.

Farke’s new Buendia: Leeds lining up move for “sensational” UCL star

Leeds United reportedly submitted a late offer in an attempt to sign Aston Villa attacking midfielder Emiliano Buendia at the end of the summer transfer window, only to be blocked by their Premier League rivals.

The Argentina international scored 24 goals and provided 41 assists in 121 matches for Norwich under Daniel Farke, per Transfermarkt, and the German was looking for a reunion with him at Elland Road.

Unfortunately, Villa decided to keep hold of the 28-year-old star, which turned out to be a brilliant decision. Per Sofascore, Buendia has delivered five goals and three assists in all competitions for the Villans this season, recently scoring the winner against Arsenal.

Whilst the former Norwich star is now out of their reach, due to his fantastic form for Villa, the Whites could land their own version of him next month.

Leeds eyeing move for Champions League forward

The January transfer window is only a matter of weeks away from opening for business, and the West Yorkshire outfit have their eye on a potential target to add more quality to their squad.

Transfer Focus

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.

According to TEAMtalk, Leeds United are one of a number of clubs lining up a move to sign Bodo/Glimt star Jens Petter Hauge in the winter window.

The report claims that Crystal Palace, Brentford, Leeds, and Brighton are all interested in signing the former AC Milan attacking midfielder, as they look to bolster their respective squads ahead of the second half of the season.

It adds that the Whites were keen on signing the Norwegian talent back in 2020, before his move to Milan, and they are looking to finally snap him up, five years later.

TEAMtalk, however, does not reveal how much money Bodo/Glimt are set to demand from any of the interested Premier League teams, should offers come in for his services.

Why Leeds should sign Jens Petter Hauge

Leeds should test the Norwegian side’s resolve with an offer for Hauge when the January transfer window opens for business, because he has the quality to be Farke’s new Buendia.

Like the Villa star, the attacking midfielder is a versatile playmaker who can play on the left, through the middle, or off the right to provide goals and assists on a regular basis.

Talent scout Jacek Kulig once described him as a “sensational” player who had lost his way, and the 26-year-old star is seemingly back to his ‘sensational’ ways in Norway.

Since returning to Bodo/Glimt in January 2024, Hauge has been in impressive form that suggests that he could be an exciting addition to Farke’s squad ahead of the second half of the 2025/26 campaign.

The Norway international, who has been the most prolific dribbler in the competition, has scored three goals in six matches in the Champions League this season, after delivering four assists in two Champions League qualifiers, per Transfermarkt.

Since his return to Bodo/Glimt, Hauge has produced 24 goals and 22 assists in 93 appearances in all competitions, per Transfermarkt, which shows that he has provided goals and assists on a regular basis from attacking midfield positions.

As you can see in the table above, the Leeds transfer target ended the 2025 Eliteserien campaign with 16 goals and ‘big chances’ created combined in 28 outings for Bodo/Glimt.

This shows that, like Buendia, Hauge is another right-footed attacking midfielder who can provide quality in the final third as both a scorer and a creator in equal measure, which makes him an incredibly valuable player.

Of course, he is unproven in the Premier League and it remains to be seen whether or not he can translate his current performances over to English football, but a return of three goals in six Champions League matches, including a goal against Borussia Dortmund this week, shows that he can perform at a high level.

This suggests that Hauge is a player who is worth taking a gamble on in the January transfer window in an attempt to add more quality to the side at the top end of the pitch.

A Viduka repeat: Leeds open initial talks to sign midfield "machine"

Leeds United are eyeing up a player from Scotland who could be their next Mark Viduka-type signing.

ByDan Emery 5 days ago

Leeds were unable to sign Buendia from Villa in the summer to reunite him with Farke, but the German head coach may see shades of the Argentine magician in this Bodo/Glimt star.
